Sponsored Guest Posting Guidelines

Thank you for considering placing a sponsored guest post on The Smart Wallet! We’re excited you want to be partnered with our brand. If you’re interested in pure guest posting without any affiliate links within content, then those are not charged a fee and we’d love to have a separate discussion on how to work together!

To provide transparency for our readership, below are guidelines on how we handle sponsored guest post requests, as well as listing advertising fees.

Sponsored guest posts translate to any businesses or writers with clients that are looking to advertise their service/product/brand on The Smart Wallet utilizing an article publication that contains affiliate links within the content.

Fees:

  • $100 / 1 year for an article that you write
  • $175 / 1 year for an article that The Smart Wallet writes for you

The article is hosted on the site for 1 year with an option to renew for another year. All sales are final after the article is published and fees collected for the year. We’ll reach out when the 1-year mark is nearing the end to see if you’d like to continue!

Sponsored Disclosure

We make it very transparent for our readers at The Smart Wallet if a post is sponsored. This means, that a sponsored disclosure will appear before the article body content. As we’re being compensated, the readers should know as such and we’ll make the disclosure sound as natural as possible while still being honest!

Sample disclosure:
“We’re happy to be partnered with XYZ brand to share XYZ knowledge in this guest post!”

Linking Attribution

All sponsored guest posts will not have do-follow links. Sponsored links will be attributed with the “rel=sponsored” attribution (instead of “nofollow”) Detailed explanation of why Google evolved “nofollow” links here.

As Google looks down on those attempting to buy links to boost their ranking, they do allow for properly attributed sponsor links to avoid penalization for the advertiser (you) and the publisher (The Smart Wallet). Due to protecting both our brand and the advertiser, we’ll follow “sponsored” attribution rules.

Links within the article should go to your brand/product/service, as well as to a reputable third-party source. The Smart Wallet will also add in any appropriate internal links (1-2) to our articles already on the site.

Brand/Service Must Fit The Smart Wallet

We want to be comfortable advocating for your brand/service or product! If we don’t feel it’s a fit for our personal finance site and for our readers, then we’ll respectfully decline to publish your sponsored guest post.

Before any commitment, we’ll ask what the brand/service/product is and what the topic/theme will be to determine if it’s a good fit.

A good fit can include brands/services/products that:

  • Improves financial literacy
  • Improves income (jobs, side gigs, unique ways to make money)
  • Helps retirement planning
  • Helps to get out of debt

This is just a sample of what we feel are a good fit. We’ll be excited to hear more about your brand if it doesn’t fall into the above categories!

Editing Sponsored Posts & Ownership

The Smart Wallet has a distinctive tone and voice that reaches our Millennial audience. We’ll edit your article to fit the site’s voice as well as adjust any grammar. If there are non-grammatical changes to your article, it’ll be sent back to you for a review and to ensure you’re happy with the edits!

If The Smart Wallet is writing the article for you, then know that it’ll be written in our voice and usual way. You can preview this style on all the current articles on the site. If there are any questions while writing the piece, we’ll work closely with you to ensure the most accurate representation.

In regards to ownership, the article content will be under The Smart Wallet’s care for the duration of the hosting. This means it’ll stay exclusive to The Smart Wallet for the year it’s on the site. As duplicated content can harm rankings, we reserve the right to have exclusivity for the published guest post for that duration.

  • The minimum word count is 500, no limit on maximum
  • You can provide the main article image (and reviewed by The Smart Wallet) or we’ll choose the best fitting image to represent your sponsored guest post

Thank You

Thank you for making it this far! Often, we get requests for guest posts that want to bypass FTC and Google guidelines so by creating these terms, we hope that you’ll understand our stance.

If you’re interested in pure guest posting without any affiliate links within content, then those are not charged a fee and we’d love to have a separate discussion on how to work together!

The Smart Wallet reserves the right to make any changes to the terms above.
