Some Uber drivers could be getting an extra check in the mail this month and it won’t be due to picking up more passengers.
Last year, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) settled a complaint against Uber for allegedly inflating the potential income that drivers could make as an independent contractor.
To settle the complaint, Uber agreed to pay $20 million and 88,000 drivers will be receiving refund checks this month. The average refund amount is said to be $222.96 based on the driver’s location and earnings.
If you’re an Uber driver, keep an eye out for the check which is mailed by the administrator, Epiq. You’ll also have 60 days to cash it.
For most people, Uber is still an excellent way to earn extra income. Especially when you can earn on your own schedule while performing a task almost everyone can do. You also get paid weekly.
