Best Things to Buy in June
June is the midpoint of the year, the sixth of twelve months. That means semi-annual sales are abundant. Many companies roll out discounts every six months so that you can cash in this month. Throw in Father’s Day on June 19th, and it’s the season to save on summer necessities and gifts.
Here are the best things to buy in June.
1. Grilling Accessories
June isn’t your best bet if you want to buy a grill. However, if you’re looking for add-ons like grill brushes, stainless steel spatulas, meat thermometers, grill baskets, and tongs, you’re in luck. Grilling accessories can be discounted in June, just in time to build your dream barbecue set up for summer. If your dad is an avid griller, you can get him accessories as a Father’s Day gift too!
2. Camping Gear
Usually, as a part of Father’s Day deals and summer prep, camping supplies go on sale in June. Depending on where you look, you can save upwards of 50 percent on tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, hiking shoes, kayaks, and more.
Dick’s Sporting Goods typically has huge deals this month. And REI is another popular retailer to look for sales.
3. Lingerie
Victoria’s Secret’s semi-annual sale each June is one of the most anticipated shopping events aside from Black Friday. Most items are more than 50 percent off, including some 70 percent discounts. Whether you’re buying yourself or a special someone a lingerie set as a gift, this is one sale you shouldn’t miss.
4. Home Improvement Supplies
To surprise the DIY dad, you can find the perfect Father’s Day gift at a bargain this month. Lowe’s and Home Depot offer annual deals on power tools, hammers, measuring tapes, paint rollers, and more. Both hardware stores also offer gift guides for Father’s Day if you need some extra inspiration.
If you have a local hardware store you prefer, call and see if they have any deals coming up around Father’s Day. There’s a good chance you’ll find savings.
5. Sunscreen and Skin Care
The summer sun can do a number on your skin if you’re anything like me. Millions of other Americans and I have sensitive skin types, so we sunburn pretty quickly and need to apply sunscreen when outdoors. Sunburn can cause skin cancer and sun damage! So, wearing sunscreen with zinc oxide and an SPF 30 or above is especially important for those of us with sensitive skin. That’s why sunscreen deals in June are such a lifesaver. CVS, for instance, has tons of deals and discounts on sunblock that you can take advantage of to stock up on for the whole summer.
If you know you’re going to get sunburnt no matter what, you can be proactive and buy some skincare products on sale this month too. Bath and Body Works has its semi-annual blowout sale in June, so there will be plenty of savings.
6. Computer Games
Steam, one of the world’s largest computer gaming distribution platforms, is beloved partly for its recurring Steam Sales, where some A-list PC games are available for 50 to 90 percent off. Steam’s next big sale is coming on June 29th and will last through July 13th, so don’t miss out on the video game savings!
Usually, Steam Sales last roughly two weeks, and there are some major bargains. In one notable example, Steam sliced the price of the hit game Portal 2 from $50 to $5 a year after release.
7. Spring Clothing
Spring has come and gone by June, meaning any spring apparel left on shelves can likely be had at a deep discount. Kohl’s and Forever 21 are examples of the many retailers that have spring clothing clearance sales around this time of year. You can probably wear whatever you buy in summer, but if not, you’ll be well-stocked next spring! The longer into June you wait, however, the less likely you’ll be to find anything left in stock.
