Bud Light is Hiring a Chief Meme Officer. Seriously.

Bud Light

Anheuser-Busch, the creator of Budweiser and Bud Light, threw its hat into the hard seltzer ring in early 2020. Called Bud Light Seltzers, they entered the market as a competitor to White Claw and other spiked seltzers, and the company is quite confident in its product. However, the brand is not happy about its meme ability.

To fix this, Bud Light is looking for a Chief Meme Officer, which is apparently a totally real job that pays $5,000 per month.

“We know a hard seltzer is only as good as its memes and, unfortunately, our memes are trash. We need someone who can change that for us,” the company said.

How to Be Bud Light’s Chief Meme Officer

To apply to be the first-ever Bud Light CMO, all you need to do is upload a sample meme about Bud Light Seltzer on the company site. You can submit up to four memes, and need to write 300 words about yourself too. Bud Light has a few pre-made templates for aspiring CMOs to use, but the company allows custom memes and photoshop work too.

Applicants have to be at least 21 years old and can submit their memes until September 20th, 2020. The position itself is technically on Bud Light’s marketing team, lasts three months, and would come with some responsibilities. The Chief Meme Officer would have to create 10 memes each week to be posted on social media, as well as actually enjoy Bud Seltzer. All applicants will also be entered into a sweepstake for a three months supply of seltzers for free, so everyone has a chance to win!

Bud is encouraging referrals, so even if you don’t apply, you might have a friend who’s perfect. If nothing else, it’s good money to make memes and will (probably) look great on your resume after your three-month stint as CMO.
