Chase is Extending DashPass Benefit Through 2024
Two of the most popular travel rewards credit cards on the market today are the Chase Sapphire Preferred® credit card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve® credit card. Both have distinct benefits, and both will undoubtedly help you maximize free travel. But free travel isn’t the only benefit these cards provide.
Since 2020, Chase has partnered with Doordash to offer select cardholders discounts on the DashPass unlimited delivery program. Depending on which Chase card you hold, you can either get a complimentary DashPass or be eligible for a discount.
This benefit was supposed to expire by January 31st, 2022, but luckily, it’s being extended for longer AND to more Chase credit cards through the end of 2024. Fast food and take-out lovers can rejoice!
Chase Sapphire® Cardholders Can Take Advantage of DoorDash Perks for Three More Years
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® credit card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve® credit card now both offer a generous complimentary DashPass benefit through December 31, 2024, or for a minimum of 12 months, depending on your activation date. So, if you enroll even on the very last day of this promotion, you’ll receive the benefit through the end of 2025! What’s the difference between both cards you ask? Read more about it here.
A Doordash DashPass benefit usually costs $9.99 per month. Customers receive the following benefits free for a minimum of 12 months:
- $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on restaurant orders over $12
- $0 delivery fees on eligible grocery store orders over $25
- 5% credit back on pickup orders
Since this is a totally free benefit regardless of which Sapphire card you hold, there’s no reason not to activate it! Oh, and your DashPass benefits also apply if you typically order on Caviar.
Even better news if you’re a Chase Sapphire Reserve® credit card cardholder: not only will you benefit from the free DashPass benefit, you’ll now also receive a $5 in-app credit each month from April 2022 until December 2024.
If you add that up, that’s an added value of $165!
Each $5 credit can be rolled over for up to two months at a time. So, you can accumulate $15 in credit every third month and then place an order for a meal. So with the added benefit of the DashPass providing free delivery and reduced fees, it might be totally free!
Doordash Benefit Added to Other Chase Credit Cards
If you aren’t a Chase Sapphire Preferred® credit card or Chase Sapphire Reserve® credit card, you can still benefit from the extended Doordash DashPass benefit too. Starting April 1, 2022, Chase Freedom® and Chase Slate® cardholders can enroll for three free months as long as they do so by or before December 31st, 2024.
This includes some no annual fee Chase credit cards:
- Chase Freedom Unlimited®
- Chase Freedom Flex℠
- Chase Freedom® (no longer available unless you’re grandfathered in as an existing cardholder)
- Chase Slate Edge℠
- Chase Slate® (no longer available unless you’re grandfathered in as an existing cardholder)
If you don’t want to pay for the DashPass subscription after the three free months, simply cancel it. Otherwise, you’ll be automatically enrolled for nine additional months at a discount of 50% ($4.99 per month), for a total of 12 months. After 12 months, you’ll be enrolled at the full membership price of $9.99 per month unless you cancel your DashPass subscription.
The Bottom Line
If you frequently order fast food or take-out from Doordash, this is a great added value that’s certainly worth it. Whether you’re an existing Chase cardholder or interested in applying for one of the cards above, you’re eligible for a free or discounted DashPass membership.
Chase continues to update and develop their partner benefits to remain competitive in the credit card market. This is certainly not a benefit to be overlooked for all of the foodies out there!
