Subway, Wendy’s, And More Class Action Lawsuits You Might Qualify For
Time to check your receipts. You could be entitled to a portion of millions of dollars.
Check out this list of class action lawsuits being filed this winter and see if you qualify for any:
Subway
The fast food sandwich shop agreed to pay out a $30.9 million settlement for violating credit and debit card privacy laws.
Subway was printing the expiration date of cards used at some of their locations, directly violating the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act.
For you, that could mean up to $75 back if you used a credit or debit card at Subway from Jan. 1, 2016 to March 23, 2017.
File a claim by January 22, 2019.
Wendy’s
Following a data breach in 2016, Wendy’s agreed to pay $3.4 million in a class action suit.
You may be eligible if you used a credit, debit or other payment cards at particular Wendy’s locations between Oct. 25, 2015, and June 28, 2016 and had your information compromised in the 2016 data breach.
Customers who submit evidence of how they were impacted by the breach are entitled to up to $5,000. Those without documented evidence can collect up to $30.
The deadline to submit a claim is March 21, 2019.
State Farm
If you made a claim on State Farm casualty insurance between July 1987 and February 1998, you may have a stake in a $250 million class action settlement with the insurance company.
While State Farm admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement, they’ll still pay customers who file a claim.
Class members include consumers in all states except Tennessee and Arkansas who had State Farm vehicle casualty insurance, made a claim for vehicle parts, and had non-factory, or “crash parts,” installed.
You can file a claim until Jan. 31.
Black & Decker, Farberware
Consumers who bought a number of Black & Decker or Faberware products are eligible for partial refunds thanks to a new class action settlement.
The suit argues that the appliance companies misled consumers about product manufacturing.
To be eligible, you must have purchased certain Black & Decker and/or Farberware brand small kitchen appliances between Feb. 5, 2014, and Oct. 19, 2018.
Fiat Chrysler
Drivers of certain Jeep and Chrysler vehicles could qualify for up to $4,000.
Class members include owners and lessees of 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee, 2015 Jeep Renegade, 2015 Chrysler 200, or 2015 ProMaster City.
According to the lawsuit, a defect with the transmission caused loud noises and gear shifts.
The claim deadline is May 15, 2019.
Cricket CDMA
Following the Cricket and AT&T merger, some consumers were unable to use their Cricket Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) phones.
Now, customers who bought a Cricket phone between July 12, 2013, and July 9, 2018, are eligible for the class action suit against Cricket Communications LLC.
Instead of monetary compensation, class members can receive one of three rewards:
- Unlock Benefit: Settlement class members will be able to unlock their qualifying CDMA phone, which may allow them to activate the phone with another wireless carrier.
- Data Benefit: Settlement class members will be able to port an existing wireless number onto a new line of Cricket service without paying an activation fee and receive an additional 1 GB of high-speed data for free after maintaining one month of service.
- Four Month Data Benefit: Settlement class members who maintain one month of future Cricket service on either an existing or new line of Cricket service can receive 1 GB of free high-speed data for up to four subsequent consecutive months of timely prepaid service.
Consumers can submit a claim online until Feb. 9, 2018.
GameStop
When GameStop was hacked last year, customer’s financial records were put at risk. As a result, the company agreed to pay Class Members up to $10,000 in this suit.
1.3 million credit and debit card numbers were affected by the June 2017 hack, and anyone who shopped online from August 2016 to February 2017 was at risk.
The claim form is open until Dec. 13.
