Amazon is Hiring 100K Seasonal Workers Nationwide
Amazon, the second-largest job provider in the U.S., is looking to fill 100,000 seasonal roles this winter, according to a statement. The megabrand is bolstering its workforce to keep up with holiday demand, as many companies do this time of year.
Amazon has hired at least 100,000 seasonal workers every year since 2015, although this year marks a sharp decline from 2019 when 200,000 jobs were created. Nonetheless, Amazon is hiring and looking for people of all skill levels and backgrounds. Here’s what you should know if you want to apply.
Amazon Seasonal Gigs in 2020
Although many roles are open, the retail giant is primarily looking to hire warehouse staff. These seasonal workers would help sort, pack, and ship orders in warehouses across the country. However, jobs won’t be evenly distributed nationwide. According to CNBC, the company plans to hire heavily in California, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, and Texas.
Amazon has seen revenue spike this year as more consumers were forced to shop online. While many lockdown measures have been lifted, 75 percent of people still plan to do all or some of their holiday shopping online. With coronavirus cases spiking across the country, it’s possible that online shopping is more prevalent this year than ever.
For online shoppers, Amazon is the clear top option. According to data from Fluent Pulse, nearly half of people using online marketplaces say it is their “go-to.” With all that in mind, it’s no wonder that the retail giant is expanding its holiday operation.
Seasonal jobs can lead to full-time roles at the company. Earlier in the year, Amazon hired 175,000 temporary workers and kept 125,000 full time.
“On top of an industry-leading $15 minimum wage, full-time regular jobs at Amazon come with comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance on day one, 401K with 50 percent company match, and a network to succeed,” according to a company statement.
