Bud Light will Give California Free Beer if Mexico Beats Brazil

Californians! This one’s for you.

Bud Light had tweeted earlier this month that if Mexico advances to the World Cup Quarterfinals, then they’ll give celebratory beers to the entire state of California.

As for logistics? We don’t know.

But we do know that they did keep their promise to Philadelphia when the Eagles won the Super Bowl.

Here is the tweet:

How did Mexico advance?

With an unlikely assist from South Korea.

Yesterday, Mexico was getting trampled by Sweden 3-0 but when South Korea, one of the lowest ranked teams beat Germany, the top-ranked team in the world, it allowed for Mexico to advance forward through FIFA’s rules that we’re still not 100% sure how to understand.

Because of this turn of events, South Korea fans are over the moon with their win over Germany and Mexico fans are showering South Korea fans with MAJOR love for the unexpected assist.

Now Bud Light has promised free beer to California if Mexico beats Brazil in the next World Cup game as it’s the first match of the knockout round.

Why is the first match so important? Well, Mexico has never been able to pass that round for the last 30 years and that’s why the “curse” was referenced in the Bud Light tweet.

Here’s to hoping that Bud Light will bring their royal beer decree to other states too!
