MagellanTV Will Pay One Voter $2,020 to Watch History Documentaries
Mark Twain once said, “history doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes.” Learning about history is one of the best ways to understand the present and the future. Only studying our past mistakes can protect us against repeating them. With that in mind, MagellanTV is looking for one American voter to binge 24 hours of history documentaries in advance of the 2020 election.
“As every household prepares to participate in this historic moment, it’s important to remember the world has seen leaders of every kind, from despicable despots to commendable kings,” according to the contest webpage. “So why not educate yourself by binge-watching incisive documentaries about leaders — and leadership — throughout history?”
The chosen candidate will get $2,020 and a 1-year subscription to MagellanTV. As a bonus two of your friends get a free 3-month subscription as well!

World Leader Binge-Watching Gig
MagellanTV’s challenge is open to all U.S. residents, preferably someone voting in the upcoming election. The winner will be tasked with watching 24 documentaries – each about a different world leader and close to an hour-long – in a 48-hour time span. In addition, the winner should share their experiences on social media throughout the challenge.
Documentary subjects include Abraham Lincoln, Kim Jong Un, Joseph Stalin, and Henry VII. Some tackle well-known leaders and time periods, while others dive into important but understudied figures from history. Whether or not you’re a history buff, MagellanTV is simply looking for an engaged viewer interested in learning.
On your application, you should include links to all your social channels. In addition, MagellanTV highly recommends that you submit a video submission of yourself. The application also includes a few questions about your history knowledge, but again you don’t need to be a buff to qualify!
