As the job market slowly recovers from historic unemployment and disruption, many jobs are shifting online. Physical offices are shrinking, and programs like Zoom and Slack are dominating work. That means job seekers in today’s economy have more remote and work from home options than ever before. My Employment Options, a government-backed job placement agency, is hosting a virtual job fair this month where you can hear about some of those opportunities.

My Employment Options Virtual Job Fair

If you’re in the market for a new job, My Employment Options’ Job Fair on September 28th can help you find the right gig. The agency specializes in remote jobs and work for people with disabilities, and also regularly sponsors career fairs across the country for every type of job seeker. My Employment Options works with the Social Security Administration through the Ticket to Work program, helping those on Social Security to find jobs.

“The ideal candidate also includes anyone that is looking to return to work again, looking for a career change, has employment obstacles, was laid off or is curious about or looking for a work-at-home position,” Lori Adler, a spokesperson for My Employment Options said. “The virtual job fair can be a great way to learn about major companies and network with employers without leaving home.”

So far, 11 companies have signed on to be a part of this virtual job fair:

  • Ask MEO
  • Bender Consulting Services
  • Concentrix
  • Cotiviti
  • Global Connections to Employment
  • Pearl Interactive Network
  • Republic Services
  • StatesideBPO
  • Transcom
  • TTEC
  • WR Systems

Jobs are available in tons of fields, including IT, accounting, customer service, engineering, and sales. There are openings for part- and full-time jobs, as well as remote and on-site positions.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST on September 28th, and you can sign up on CareerEco.

Prepping for a Job Fair

Events like these can be intimidating, and even more so as a virtual fair. You should prepare to chat with hiring managers both over video and text chat, so practice your written and verbal self-pitches beforehand. In addition, since you may be on video, make sure to dress professionally and find a well-lit spot with a neutral background.

You should do some research on the companies you’re interested in before the event too. You can find the list of companies and fields hiring here, so try to come prepped with questions on anything that sticks out to you.

Otherwise, the best advice we can give is to stay calm, confident, and collected. Virtual job fairs might be a bit weird, but there’s a good chance they’re only going to become more popular. Hopefully, My Employment Options can connect you with the perfect job, but if not, the event is great practice for job seekers!
