[Dream Gig] Get Paid $10K to Walk 10K Steps as Chief Step Officer

We’ve all heard that walking 10,000 steps a day benefits your health, including less cardiovascular disease, weight loss, 13 types of cancer, and dementia. But even as few as 3,800 steps a day will have benefits, and the key is walking faster, from a published study from JAMA Neurology.

However, one fitness company wants to encourage the 10,000 steps and is willing to incentivize! We’ll go into more detail on how you can get paid to…walk.

How to Become a “Chief Step Officer”

GymBird, a fitness editorial site, is looking for a Chief Step Officer to journal their experience of working up to walking 10,000 steps in a day. You don’t need any fitness experience, and you’ll get paid for your efforts!

Here’s what’s required of potential candidates:

  • Must be at least 18 years old & a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
  • Willing to commit to walking every day for a month
  • Create a 2-minute weekly video recap of how the job is going
  • A journal entry at the end of each week that details activities & feelings
  • A social media post every week that encourages others to take their first step
  • At the end of the month, participate in a 20-minute virtual debrief with GymBird to talk about the experience, where a report will be shared on their website

A Month-Long Gig with $10,000 at the End

As Chief Step Officer, the goal is to walk 10K steps in a day (24-hour period). You’ll have a month to work up to that goal and record your steps however you want, whether it’s via a treadmill, hiking, doing laps in your neighborhood, climbing stairs, etc.!

You’ll get a smartwatch to track your progress and $10,000 in cash when you complete the job.

Remember, you don’t need any prior fitness experience, just a desire to walk and a willingness to do it every day. Be sure to apply here by July 19, 2023, at 11:59 PM (MDT)!

It’s optional, but you can also create a quick video telling GymBird about yourself and why you’d be perfect for the Chief Step Officer role as a means to stand out from the rest of the applicants.

Benefits of Walking

If you didn’t know, walking has plenty of benefits. It’s becoming even more critical to move as people work from home or have sedentary lives.

Take those steps to:

  • Lengthen life expectancy
  • Have better balance & flexibility
  • Build & tone muscles
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and strokes
  • Boost immunity and bone strength
  • Reduce depression & anxiety

In addition, it’ll help curb sugar cravings, improve sleep, and because it’s low-impact, almost anyone can add more steps to their life.

Good luck!
