Update: Application deadline has passed

Can you create pretty much anything out of LEGO® bricks?

If so, a dream job has appeared for the ultimate LEGO® lover and builder who wants to make a living off their favorite childhood activity.

LEGOLAND® Master Model Builder Wanted

A new LEGOLAND® Discovery Center is opening in East Rutherford, New Jersey, in spring 2021, and they’ll need a Master Model Builder to represent. (Kind of like the one in The LEGO® Movie but this is cooler because of real life!)

Since there’s no degree for Lego-making, all you need is a high school diploma or GED and a portfolio of your LEGO® builds (show off your stuff!) to [email protected]

Take pictures of all the angles of your builds to really showcase your building prowess.

They’re also looking for candidates that are:

  • Able to read drawings/sketches regarding model production (so a background in model making is preferred!)
  • Able to work with digital programs that help build complex models
  • Flexible in work hours
  • Willing and love to teach young kids about building
  • Comfortable with being in the limelight for PR and marketing purposes

Essentially you’ll be leading workshops for kids and managing LEGO® displays and new builds!

Curious about what the job entails? Here’s an example!

While the salary isn’t specified on the job description, it lists competitive pay and benefits package, including free entry to all Merlin attractions for yourself, family, and friends.

Applications are due October 16, so get them in! Eligible candidates will be contacted to go through a competitive round of Brick Factor, a fun LEGO® build-off, at the end of the month. The winner gets hired!

Good luck!

And for those who want to prepare their kids to become potential LEGO® masters, Master Model Designer Jason Miller gives this advice: go on the STEM path (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
